André and Sonia met in November 2014. Sonia approached André on an online dating site, and was instantly smitten. 

 

By the beginning of 2015, they were a couple. From the start of their relationship, Sonia and André were a long distance couple. She lived and worked in South Bend,  IN, and he was a time zone away, living in Schererville, IN and working in Chicago, IL. 

 

Early on  they faced adversity, being that they were two very different people, from different places, heading in different directions in life. Sonia was focused on getting into law school and achieving her lifelong career goals. Andre was focused on his new career that would require him to relocate 7 times in a 2 year span. Despite career changes, multiple moves, tragedy and turmoil their paths in life became one as their love and commitment to each other continued to grow. 

 

On July 4th, 2017 (Andre's favorite holiday), beneath a sky lit with fireworks, Andre asked Sonia to spend the rest of her life with him, and she said yes!
